Those who still remember, tell us that one day the Creator took the four elements from each of the cardinal points:  from the South, life-giving water; from the North, the invigorating wind; from the East, the fire that enlightens; from the West, the earth that fosters life and death.  But, He didn't stop there; His endless wisdom led Him to combine the four sacred ingredients and from this magical recipe were born all things that are and shall be.  But, the Supreme Maker wanted to also create a species that would be cognitive of itself; then, moved by this new endeavor, he took clay and molded it in His artist's hands.  Later, with an alchemist's precision, he let fall, drop by drop, the perfect amount of water needed to embody the mystery of transmutation.  The fluids came together, matter became stable, and the wind rode through the clay shaping man.  It was at that very moment that the Human Spirit was born, the Creator's handiwork, product of the alliance between the four elements.

Much time has passed since that magical event; civilization, with an Indonesian dragon's speed, has hidden away these beginnings in children's fairy tales.  The Human Spirit rests like Sleeping Beauty and mankind searches tirelessly for the path that leads us to our midst.

Ana María Jaramillo, in a profound inner journey, has wanted to follow the path to the grotto where the spirit lies.  This is why she explores with her paintings each of the elements that has given life to man's fifth dimension.

This exhibit, more than an exposition of artworks, is a search for the beginning, a way to find an interior harmony, the only one that makes us Creators.
